When you’re writing music, it’s easy to think of a key as something that determines the mood of a song.

Minor feels dark.
Major feels happy.

But music is rarely that simple.

Two songs can be written in the exact same key and tell completely different stories.

One can feel like the beginning of something. Another can feel like the end. One can sound hopeful, another lonely. One can feel cinematic and expansive, while another feels intimate and personal.

The key doesn't tell the story. It gives you a place to tell…

Have you ever watched a movie scene that made your heart race, brought tears to your eyes, or left you sitting in complete suspense? Chances are, the music played just as important a role as the actors, cinematography, or dialogue.

The most powerful film scores often go unnoticed—not because they aren't great, but because they're doing exactly what they're supposed to do: guiding your emotions without demanding your attention.

Music Is the Emotional

From Run DMC to Slick Rick , Nas, Jay-Z and countless others. Hip hop has always been about storytelling.

Before the streaming era, before viral trends, and before producers competed for attention online, a great beat could create an entire world. A drum pattern, a sample, and a melody could make you picture a neighborhood, a memory, or a moment in time.

That idea is still at the heart of my music today.

My production style…
